This week, we’ve got a pandemic-era Farmers Market update.

In our What’s for Dinner? segment, Joy talks about air frying everything.

In our How’d You Make That? segment, Marisa shares a recipe for her mom’s oatmeal cookies.

And in What We’re Loving this week, it’s mixed nuts!

  1. I started to gather my mise en place to make a veganized version of these cookies and then stopped myself. My egg, I think will be the super flax – aquafaba egg. At this moment in time, I cannot be home, alone as I am, with cookies, not even if they are in the freezer. But that is today. The cookie recipe is identical to one for a Girl Scout Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookie for the Girl Scout Sandwich cookies. The only difference is the 1/2 cup peanut butter in the dough. I love cookies and I love your podcast.

  2. The oatmeal cookies sounded delicious! I love listening to your podcast ,as a lot of your recipes lend themselves to be adapted to be vegan. Always giving out lots of helpful info .
    Great job ladies!!!

  3. I love listening to you both so much. I just heard your call to arms and left you a five star review on iTunes. Your show is my favorite one to listen to because it’s like listening to a conversation about food among friends, even though I haven’t met either of you. I found the podcast as a huge Marisa fan (own all cookbooks and love them) and am now a huge Joy fan! I love hearing about your latest online pantry orders. I look forward to hearing about what you ladies are making for dinner and what you’re loving! Keep speaking up about what matters! It’s appreciated.

  4. I’ve heard that an air fryer is just a counter-top convection oven. I have a convection oven, do you know if the air fryer is any different than the convection feature on the oven?

    1. Hi Faith, this is Dan, Joy’s husband. Before we had an air fryer, I also thought “we already have a convection oven, why do we need this?” Now that we do have one, I know the answer. In a convection oven, there is airflow from the convection fan but it’s pretty gentle, its main purpose seems to be to keep the temperature throughout the oven consistent and provide some drying. In the air fryer, there is a LOT more airflow and the space it’s circulating in is a lot smaller, so there’s a lot more convection and direct airflow onto the food.

  5. This is such a great podcast! I look forward to each week’s episode. It is like meeting with friends to discuss what you are reading, cooking and loving. It is such fun to listen to the two of you and the friendship you share. Plus I have learned so much from you ladies because you are both so knowledgeable. I am so grateful that Joy is vegan so that both she and Marisa add a vegan option to many of the recipe ideas. I have loved the recipes I have tried. Your recipes and ideas are very user friendly. Keep up the great work and speaking out when it’s important!

  6. Hey Joy and Marisa! I adore your podcast and your food and life sensibilities. I just wanted to mention something you might not be aware of: when you post pictures of text, as in the oatmeal cookie recipe, people who use screenreading technology can’t read it. I’m blind and use a screenreader, and pictures of text are read out as “graphic” without the text being read. I’m aware that typing things out takes longer, and that’s a big deal when there’s already too much to do, but it would give access to more of your listeners! Thanks again, and jam and nut butter forever!

    1. Hi Lauren. Thank you so much for bringing this issue to our attention. I am really sorry that we didn’t realize. We will get the recipe typed up and will do better in the future.

  7. I would love to give you a great review, but I don’t have iTunes. Is there another way to do that? Thanks.

    1. I have the same question. I usually listen via your website but I didn’t see anywhere to post a review.
