Episode 316: Simplified Pizza, Summer Hash, Chocolate

Way simpler homemade pizza

In food news this week, we launched our Patreon membership program. More here.

In What’s for Dinner this week we talk about making good homemade pizza well and truly simple (and also vegan, if you want).

In How’d You Make That? we’ve got easy, improvisation friendly summer hash.

Joy “attended” Estelle Tracey’s wonderful online chocolate tasting. Learn more about Estelle here. Get yourself some Castronova Chocolate here.

And finally, in what we’re loving, it’s more chocolate! Specifically, Soom Food’s outrageously, ridiculously good chocolate tahini.

  1. Thank you so much for deciding to air the podcast. It was definitely the right choice. I live in Minneapolis fairly close to all the rioting. As you can know, this week has been one terrible thing after another. Your podcast is a bright spot in an otherwise very dark week. Thank you for adding some lightness and goodness to these very difficult days.

    1. Thank you so much for saying that. It was really hard to decide what to do but we thought you appreciate it. Thanks for letting us know you do 🙂

  2. Great idea to offer an option to support the show.

Marisa, I used to live at 13th and Chestnut. I think you live fairly near to there. On your daily walks, have you seen what happened to the businesses in that area? I’ve seen some stories about areas on the other side of Broad, but not my old neighborhood.

Also, I randomly bought some of the chocolate tahini spread this week, and it is indeed phenomenal!

    1. I’m embarrassed to say that I haven’t been east of Broad Street in at least a month. But I haven’t heard that things east of Broad were as hard hit as they were in my neighborhood.

  3. Thank you so much for sharing your experience at the tasting, Joy, I had a big smile on my face while listening to you! These Zoom tastings are so fun to organize and I sure expect to organize more.

    1. I would definitely do it again with different chocolates. It was fun and I learned so much!

      1. That’s so good to read, Joy! I’m currently scheduling the next tasting in July (I hope to start sending bars this week). Stay tuned!
